“And then it happens … One day you wake up and you’re in this place. You’re in this place where everything feels right. Your heart is calm. Your soul is lit. Your thoughts are positive. Your vision is clear. You’re at peace, at peace with where you’ve been, at peace with what you have been through and at peace with where you’re headed.”
What do you get when you a Texan meets a Canadian in Istanbul who now share their lives together in Mexico … one epic elopement adventure in the middle of nowhere in South Africa.
How they met: “Our meeting was predicted by a Turkish coffee reader. Two days before we met, I was told that I would meet a great love. That was a Monday. On Wednesday, Chris showed up in my yoga class in Istanbul, Turkey. Two days later, I knew I was in love. We then parted ways for a few months (weeks really) but it didn’t take long before we wanted to take a big chance on each other. I moved from Istanbul to Boston to get to know Chris better. We haven’t looked back since.”
Chris and Blaire decided that the wild horses, waterfall, unique rock formation and forest backdrop of Kaapsehoop just outside Nelspruit would be the perfect spot to get married.
Their morning elopement started off with a misty, cozy walk with a hot chocolate stop along the way. While waiting for the rain to stop Blaire got her hair and make up done by the lovely Courtney from Courtney Chadwick Make-Up Artist and Chris jumped back into bed to get warm and finish up his vows.
After getting dressed Chris headed into the forest while he waited for his absolutely breathtaking bride to meet him. They shared a sweet and emotional ceremony where they exchanged vows and rings, smiles, hugs and kisses. Blaire and Chris then shared some snacks and bubbly in an incredibly intimate little oasis in the middle of the forest. This along with the whole day was executed to perfection by one of my favourite humans Rebecca from Runaway Romance, who never fails to amaze me. Colleen from Lieflingkind was the lovely lady behind all the wedding stationery.
We then finished off the day taking some photos at a waterfall. An elopement fit for the adventurous and wild at heart.
Blaire and Chris it was really such an honour to capture your sweet love. You are both as genuine and kind hearted as you get 🙂
Some kind words from Blaire and Chris: “The lead up to our wedding day was a bit stressful. We’d had to change the date (twice!) and we knew the weather would not be as we expected. Megan was a huge asset because of her absolute resourcefulness and creativity. Despite the day looking very different than we had planned or anticipated, our wedding became an unexpected adventure which Megan not only participated in, but captured with sensitivity and skill. We feel so fortunate to have had our most intimate, and special day captured by such a wonderful photographer and sweet soul.”
